Advanced Strategies for GMB Photos

Brands: If a business sells or provides a service of a known brand include photo imagery of that brand’s name or logo in the business profile gallery.

Business Card: Include an image of a business card that includes the business name, address, and phone number associated with the Google Business profile. This image can be very beneficial to confirm the information on the profile.

Post Images: Images added to posts on the Google Business Listing do not need to follow all of the same guidelines as the images submitted to the gallery. These images can have words superimposed on them and are meant to accompany the post content. They are not processed through the Vision AI technology and do not impact the digital search summary of the business.

Medical Practices and Professionals: Many potential customers searching on the web do not always know the name of the dental practice or insurance agency they are looking for. In many cases, they do know the name of the doctor or agent that they are searching for online.

It is recommended to teach Google the name of the practitioners associated with this type of business. One strategy you can implement is to add an image of the professional to the business profile gallery and make sure that you have the exact same image on the website with the name and credentials clearly labeled in the text next to the image. This will help to associate the name and the practice so that when they are searched by name online they can be more easily found.

Multi-location Photo Updates and Contests: It can be difficult and costly to update photography on multi-location businesses regularly. A method that has proven to be very effective is to host a contest for the employees of each location. Instruct them to take photos and upload them to the marketing agency for review.

A prize can be awarded for each winner at each location and is much more cost-effective than hiring a professional to photograph each location on a regular basis. It is wise to even include a scavenger hunt like a shot list for them to follow. ie. business exterior at sunrise/sunset, close up of brand logos, specific products, etc…

Business Concepts: Some businesses can be difficult to represent through imagery, such as law offices, insurance agents, marketing firms, etc... Make a list of the services they provide and think outside the box to try to represent them with photos.

Example: In a law office there are usually books that have the word “law” on the cover or the spine. Take an image that clearly shows the word, “law.”
