Howdy Notebooker!

If you caught my note on how to rank in ChatGPT Deep Research by paying attention to refinements, you know the playbook: figure out what the AI wants to learn about your niche, then write about it.

Well, things have changed.

ChatGPT Deep Research no longer asks you those follow-up refinement questions before it kicks off its research. That whole process of collecting 4-5 sets of refinement criteria that we used in my previous note? Gone.

Because of this, I published a note using a similar process for Gemini Deep Research.

But today, I’m sharing my new workaround for ChatGPT that I came to me during one of my AEO Accelerator coaching sessions.

Here’s the low down…

Go to ChatGPT.com and select Deep Research by clicking the “+” button:

From here, you’ll want to enter your keyword…

Then perform Deep Research. You’ll get refinements, but here’s where it gets tricky…

Notice how there’s now a countdown timer, act fast by clicking edit.

Cool, so now you’ve got one set of refinements… copy them and dump them into the Deep Research Refinement Synthesizer 👇

With the old Deep Research, you were able to cycle through the different models and regenerate. With the new Deep Research, you’ll need to open a new ChatGPT window and start rotating through the different models, each a new window, each time clicking “edit” to pause.
